REFRACTIVE SURGERY (LASER)
Correction of errors like myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism with operational techniques is called refractive surgery. These operational techniques are implantation of multifocal and accommodative intraocular lenses and LASIK, LASEK, PRK, EPI-LASIK, INTACS, and CK. Type of laser used in refractive surgery today is excimer laser. This laser dissolves carbon bonds between the molecules of the corneal tissue and eliminates the tissue of the desired amount in the desired area, and re-shapes the cornea. It is possible to correct myopia up to 10 dioptries,
hypermetropia up to 6 dioptries and astigmatism up to 6 dioptries with excimer laser. Success ratio can change according to the structure of the individual's eye.

Intralase:
This is the lifting of the flap using Femtosecond laser technology under computer control.

Lasik:
This is used for the patients between 18 and 65 years of age. Patient must be over 18 years of age, and if possible, 21.

Prk:
This is the method of peeling the thin tissue called epithelium at the uppermost layer of the cornea, and applying excimer laser to the bed tissue under.

Customized Laser:
Visual abilities and ocular structure of individuals are different. It is possible to create customized laser programs with Wavefront , Q-value and topolaser methods.

Lasek:
Like PRK, this is applied to individuals with corneal thicknesses inadequate for LASIK. It has similarities with PRK; however, the epithelium is lifted like a flap with the help of diluted alcohol, and re-spread into the cornea following the laser application. Pain is less as compared to PRK, because epithelium is spared, while improvement of vision takes longer as compared to LASIK.

Epi-Lasik:
This method, which can be performed on individuals with thin corneas, is the alternative for PRK and LASEK. In this technique, a tool called epikeratom is used for the lifting of epithelium instead of diluted alcohol. Pain is much less than that in PRK or LASEK, and healing period is also shorter.

Intacs (Intra-corneal Rings):
This is used in patients with myopia between 1 and 4 Dioptry with corneas not suitable for LASIK.

Phakic intraocular lens:
This is a method which an artificial lens is implanted within the eyeball without removing the natural lens of the patient with the purpose of correcting refractive errors.
